History
The Octāves were founded in 1990 as part
of a senior project. While the origin of the name itself is
a little hazy, nobody seems to question it. Over the past 20
years, The 'Taves have consistently been a part of campus
life at The University of Richmond. As time progressed, so
did the quality of the group, and they began moving their
talents off campus, performing all over the east coast and
at various events, from non-profit community concerts to
meetings of top Secret Service employees.
Every Spring The Octāves host Spring
Fever, the biggest a cappella event of the semester at The
University of Richmond. For 15 years Spring Fever has
brought in some of the best a cappella groups from around
the country to perform alongside The ‘Taves, and the weekend
event promises to bring in many more in the future.
